The Maxi Dress
Some may think that the maxi-length dress, a dress that is to be worn floor-length, is only for the long-legged. This is not the case. Petite ladies everywhere can wear the maxi in a shortened, above-the-ankle version. This style is both sexy and forgiving, two characteristics that should be enjoyed by women of all heights. It began last year, as a throw back to the 1960, but the maxi of Summer 2009 is limitless in its possibilities. Maxis in luxe materials such as silk and linen are being showcased by some of the top designers. Paired with jewelry and dressy heels, the style becomes less bohemian and more glamorous. Maxis are available in strappy, strapless, with pockets, without, printed and monochromatic. Premium denim designers such as Seven for all Mankind even feature the popular maxi in denim material, a nod to all of the urban cowgirls. Despite the criticism maxis may receive about fit and flattery, this really is a style that can work for everyone. Some maxis may require alterations on length and strap details, but the flowing fit of this dress is one that can be incredibly flattering on many different body shapes. Try one on ladies!

I love summer maxi dresses. The style is so easy. It is one piece and that is all you have to think about when getting dressed. All you have to worry about is accessorizing which is the best part!

I really like this look as well, however since I am shorter it’s hard to find a style and fit that works for my frame. I guess I could always get them altered like all my other jeans…

I am so into the maxi dresses. But, this one is my favorite because of the neckline.

I love the feel of these summer maxi dresses. I like them paired with a cluster of necklaces for a going out dramatic outfit. They are so comfy and a great thing to throw on during a hot summer day!
