Little girls love to play dress up in their mother’s pearls and high heels. When they grow up – they go out and they buy their own! Keeping with the glittering trend that we are currently seeing in fashion, accessories brighter and shinier than ever! Tights, hair jewelry, earrings, necklaces and bracelets; all of the major accessories are going BLING! Some pieces are subtler, in muted colors and low sheen, others are decorated to the nines and look as though they just arrived from the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Of course, this is why we love them. The key with sparkle and sparkly accessories is to know when to draw the line. True, this new trend is all about excess– and I really do love a lot of glitz; but there is a fine line between cheesy and classy with this style and it is important to stay on the classy side. Looking in the mirror and making the assessment is generally the best way to determine if you have overdone the trend. If you find it hard to tell, ask an honest friend or roommate. You can always toss a bejeweled cuff in your purse if après arrival you realize that your radiance is blinding others in the room. My advice? Have fun. It is not too often that fashion hands us an entire season of sparkle. I have always been thankful to wear it on New Year’s and my birthday. NOW is the time to wear sparkle on a Wednesday!
