I have never been a headband girl. I really have never been into the bohemian trend, but this season, headbands are making a bold statement and I just cannot resist them. The new headband is really less Boho and more glam than ever before. Most of them feature unique statement details such as sparkles and lace. The new twist is to wear the headband across your forehead. It is daring, I admit, but extremely cute and irresistible. I recently purchased a gold band by Free People that has a slight shimmer to it. It is adorable and I receive compliments on it from everyone I meet. I pair it with everything from t-shirts and jeans to blouses and tunic dresses. It is the ultimate accessory because it is impossible to miss. The band sits only a few inches above my eyebrows, so it is the first thing that people notice when they look at me. I usually like to fly below the radar, sporting serious fashion in the most subtle of ways. This trend is more pronounced than I usually am comfortable with, but believe me; it is perfect for the Holiday Season. I encourage you to try it for yourself. Headbands are very inexpensive and offer a great way to incorporate style into any outfit. For those who are unsure, there are many regular headband styles that look adorable with hair worn up or down. Check them out! Happy Shopping, Ladies!

With many holiday parties and events looming in the near future, it is important to remember our manners. Arriving at someone’s home bearing a gift for the hostess not only shows traditional etiquette but endearing thoughtfulness. I have a few great ideas for hostess gifts that I am excited to share!
Holiday Hostess Gift Set – The luxurious beauty line, philosophy, offers a box set of cinnamon bun scented shower gel and lotion appropriately called “Holiday Hostess”. The set is packaged in a Holiday themed box with the title attractively displayed on the front. This gift is perfect for the Hostess who doesn’t drink (wine is out of the question) but loves to bake. It will bestow her a sweet indulgence after the festivities!
Scented Candles – The Holidays are filled with delicious treats, beautiful sights and scrumptious scents. Gifting a scented candle is sure to delight most all hostesses. - a pumpkin scented candle for a Thanksgiving gathering and a Snicker doodle one for Christmas. Your hostess will most likely light the candle right away so that all the guests may enjoy the wonderful scent. Packaging a candle is as easy as a seasonal gift bag or a coordinating ribbon tied around the middle.
Wine/Food – A bottle of wine or a box of chocolates is always a safe and appropriate gift for the hostess. Add a creative twist to your presentation by looping an ornament through a tied ribbon; or, securing a piece of fall foliage or wintergreens to the bottle/box. If your stay as a guest is extended, consider using the idea that I came across at wine.com. Fill a colander with a bottle of wine, chocolates, gourmet pasta, olive oil and seasonings. Select items that your hostess would appreciate and gift her with a lovely selection of decadent treats. You will most likely be invited back! Happy Holidays, Ladies!

Thanksgiving is a Holiday that doesn’t necessarily require cocktail attire. The dress code is typically casual, but most of us would still like to feel slightly dressed up for the special day. If your agenda includes watching football and eating large portions, I would recommend dressing for comfort. Comfortable can still be chic. Pair your favorite jeans with a cozy cardigan. Add a necklace for a dressed up touch. Typically at events such as this, you will be sans shoes – so remember to wear socks that match your outfit. If you feel the need for sparkle – you go girl! Keep it subtle and add shine with scarf or with hair jewelry. With this look, keep the bottoms casual, denim preferably. If your comfort zone includes dresses, try a casual wrap dress paired with tights or leggings. Use accessories to jazz up your Thanksgiving style, rhinestone details on a necklace, drop earrings or a sweet hair band. Special details such as these show the care you took in selecting your Holiday outfit, yet they keep your statement subtle. Save the classic dress up for Christmas and the bling for New Years! You never know when your assistance may be required in the kitchen. You would never forgive yourself if your silk Marc Jacobs acquired a gravy stain. Happy Shopping, Ladies!

I noticed a girl wearing black denim leggings and fabulous purple boots on a TV show last week. I spent the next evening searching for the exact pair online. I couldn’t find them. Her ensemble, though, led me to a new fashion desire. Purple suede boots with fringe down the side. Boots of this nature are the kind that are loved and adored by their owner for one or two seasons, (when the style is a hit), then – tossed into a garage sale years later and un-sold even at the price of two dollars. But I don’t mind. The thought of my very own pair of purple fringe boots is too appealing to ignore. I dream that I would pair them with textured tights, a black t-shirt tunic and a gray boyfriend cardigan. Or, maybe I would tuck skinny jeans into them and throw on a blazer and graphic t-shirt. Or, strut around in my boots and a sparkle mini dress, tights and vintage hair band. Really, the possibilities are endless. I suppose there is always Santa Claus. He may be the one person who could bring me a pair of purple suede boots with fringe down the side. Flats, not heels, (Santa, if you’re listening). In the meantime, I will continue to keep my eyes open for fabulous fashion moments and report back with details.

Currently, fashion is celebrating two major trends - sparkle and menswear. I personally look for moderately priced pieces when purchasing trendy. I choose to invest in basics such as denim, traditional sweaters jackets and handbags. However, including seasonal trends in your wardrobe does not have to be expensive. www.jbandme.com features the well-priced brand, B.B.Dakota. This fabulous line is featuring trends in sparkle and menswear that really should not be missed. The fits are incredible and the attention to detail is that of a high priced line. Check out the Andisue jacket (reminds me of Chanel). It is perfect paired with skinny jeans and heels for a festive Holiday party, or with a pair of black trousers for a business dinner. The Katelyn blazer rivals the designer styles that are sweeping nearly every page of fashion magazines this season. For understated sparkle, the Monica v-neck is perfect for everyday wear, and the Riley Vest features an adjustable fit. These pieces make great additions to any fashionable gal’s. With such great prices, it is a sensible way of bringing current fashion into your closet. These particular items will mix and match with clothing that you already own; giving them an updated twist. Check them out and Happy Shopping!

Fur in fashion has always represented luxury and class. Controversies surrounding wearable fur have led designers to find a new approach on the same style. Faux Fur, meaning “fake fur”, is the animal-friendly way to wear fur coats, vests and accessories. The synthetic blends also make the style of wearing fur less expensive and more available. I credit Rachel Zoe for bringing back the fabulousness of fur. She is often photographed in fur coats and vests, looking stylish and put-together. The best faux fur tends to be made of fine acrylic fibers. Acrylic can be dyed to represent the colors and patters of real animals and many times, it is impossible to tell the difference between what is real and what is fake. The fur vest is a piece that has been buzzed about this season and is being produced by many different labels and retailers. The style is not traditional – no tailoring - and worn loose over dresses and sweaters. It is a great accent to jeans and boots or a black sequined, too-the-floor gown. The current look is luxury rock and roll – not quite the style of conventional fur wearing women, but very cool nonetheless! Happy Shopping, Ladies!
