Looking ahead into spring and thinking about your wardrobe, I bet you are wondering what I can wear this season to stay in-style without having to buy a whole new wardrobe. Here is your simple guide to what is “Hott” going into spring and summer.
Lets get started with your shoes and accessories. This year for shoes some of our favorite trends that we saw last year are going to still be hott this year. You can continue to wear your cute cutout booties. These shoes still look great with a dress or skinny jeans and can be found in various colors and heel height. You can also still wear your super high stilettos. Nothing is sexier than a great pair of sky-high stilettos. For those of you who adored the menswear trend, you are still in style this season. Oxford shoes are going to all over stores for spring and summer. One of my favorite shoe trends came in the form of cage like designs. That is right, cage sandals are going to be a hit this season as well. I love the element of creative design and how these shoes can transform any look.
Accessories are a must have to complete any look and to show off your personal style. We are going to see the bold, statement jewelry continue to be a main look this season. Take a simple t-shirt and add a statement necklace to make a whole new look. Embellished handbags are going to be hot this spring and summer along with metallic prints. We are going to see a softer side of metallic with a rose-gold color coming into play this year. You can’t go wrong with a basic outfit when you add accessories.
As for clothing, boyfriend trends are going to huge again. I love this trend and one of my favorite brands for capturing this trend is AG Jeans and Free People. For tops, retro prints are still in style this year. You will find these prints in a retro form, digital, and abstract; a great way to spice ups your look. Mini dresses are going to be the hottest dress craze this season. Get ready to show off those gorgeous legs. Another favorite trend that I am excited to see coming back this year is the boyfriend blazer. I love the chic look of an oversized blazer over a mini dress. A neutral palette is definitely going to be hot this spring and summer. Soft pinks and light sandy colors are going to be seen in mini dress and sweet, romantic style tops. Pair your neutral with a bold accessory or colorful shoe. Leggings are going to continue to be a staple must have in your wardrobe as well. Great paired with a simple cotton dress for an easy, effortless style.
Denim trends are one of my favorite to follow. I can’t wait for each new season to see what is going to be the hottest denim and how to wear them. Boyfriend jeans are still going to be an amazing look this season along with skinny jeans. Distressed jeans create a playful summer style, but stay away from over shredded denim that we saw some of last year. Light shades of denim are perfect for spring and summer but you can still wear your darker washes.
Spring is right around the corner, I can feel it! I know I am more than ready to get out those brighter color clothing and open toe shoes. Check out the website to see some of the latest new spring items added!

This trend has been out for a little bit but is still standing tall. When the talk of menswear first surfaced I didn’t quite know what to expect but it is now a trend that I have fallen head over heels with. Items anywhere from, boyfriend jeans, blazers and vests to argyle prints and accessories. If it is something you need to get used to, start with something simple such as a larger more masculine watch. However if you want to jump in with both feet, grab a vest or blazer to layer over a button down shirt or oversized tee. Both options are great and if you choose something like a vest you could bring it into Spring by layering it over a floral print dress. Add some statement jewelry for a feminine touch and you are ready to go. I think the key to this style is to not go overboard. Pick one item and go with it, don’t replace every items at once. Here is a piece that I think would be good to start with…

Here is your Friday Fashion Tip from jb and me girls. This week we are talking about extending your wardrobe now and into spring and summer along with brightening up your wardrobe. Check out what the girls had to say in the Tip of the Day! Check back next week for some more fashion tips!

Talking about the James Denim Leggings is not a new post for us. We are just re-visiting our love for the denim leggings, and not just any denim leggings, but the “Twiggys” made by James Denim. We have tried several designer leggings and find that James mastered this trend perfectly. Not only are these light weight and stretchy, they actually look like jeans. They have full pockets, not fake pockets like most denim leggings have, they are a dark, flattering wash that looks great on almost any body type, and they have a higher rise. When you wear them you feel like you have leggings on but look like you are wearing jeans. They are most flattering with a longer or loose top paired with them. As for shoes, these leggings look great with just about anything. We have seen them paired with ankle boots, high heels, flats and tall boots. I could go on forever about how much I and the other jb girls love them. We have sold so many in our boutique just from shoppers witnessing our passion for these denim leggings. I have both colors and am looking forward to the new color we will be receiving at the end of this month.
Not only are they a favorite among us girls, but celebrity fashionistas have been spotted in them as well. They have been seen on Taylor Swift, Rachel Bilson, Halle Berry, Marcia Cross, Hilary Swank, and many more. We truly believe that if you tried a pair you would fall in love too! Here are a few pictures of how celebrities styled their James “Twiggys” along with a couple of jb and me girls pictures.

Fall Fashion may be my favorite but spring is what I look forward too. Spring fashion is a relief after the long winter months, plus it is a promise that warmer days are coming. You can put away your bulky layers and start to wear lighter fabrics and brighter colors. Each year I look forward to see what spring is going to bring. I love florals, ruffles, and feminine details. It looks like this spring is going to showcase all my favorites. I love the romantic feel of spring clothing. It is the best time to wear floral prints with lighter colors and filled with feminine details. Ruffles, pearls, soft pinks, lighter grey, and creams. Can you tell I am excited? I am just anxious to break out of my winter sweaters and wear sweet details that every girl dreams of. I am excited to see that sequins are going to make a statement this spring. They are going to come in softer hues with delicate lace details. If you are craving spring clothing now, you may have to add layers but you can still capture that sweet feminine feeling with a ruffle skirt worn now with a boyfriend blazer and tights. Or grab a ruffle cardigan and denim. It is never too early to brighten your wardrobe and get out of the winter blues!

I love award shows, they are one of my weaknesses. I love to see all the best dressed stars and listen to their winning speeches. You never know what is going to happen at award shows. This year the stars all had the same accessory on the Red Carpet, an umbrella. Despite the rain, they all looked fabulous in their designer clothing. Some of my favorites that showed up on the Red Carpet are:

Lea Michele, star of one of my favorite tv shows- Glee, in this gorgeous gown by Oscar de la Renta. (photo taken from glamour.com)

Kate Hudson, who always has impeccable style, in this classic white gown. (photo taken from glamour.com)

And Marion Cotillard in this stylish Dior Dress. Her gown shows off the trend for spring which is to add undergarments as an accent to your outfit with a lace slip peaking out of the slit of her dress. (photo taken from glamour.com)
Everyone looked great last night, I just wanted to list a few of my favorites. I would love to dress up in a designer dress and walk the Red Carpet, who wouldn’t?
Here are some of the winners from last night:
Sandra Bullock for her performance in Blind Side. She won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture- Drama
The Hangover, winning Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical
Robert Downey Jr. for his performance in Sherlock Holmes. He won the Best Motion Picture by an Actor – Comedy or Musical
Glee- Best Television Series- Comedy or Drama
Mad Men- Best Television Series – Drama
What do you think of last nights Golden Globes?

Can shopping honestly be good for you? Well, I know that when I get home from a long day of shopping, I am pooped. My feet hurt, my legs hurt and my back hurts as well. It always made me think that even though I am causing a lot of “damage” there has to be a part of this that is good for me. So, this week when I came upon some information to back up my thoughts, I just had to share them with you.
~ The average woman covers 2.96 miles on a shopping trip
~ They notch up 154 miles a year
~ The average woman burns around 385 calories - the equivalent of a piece of carrot cake or two large glasses of wine - trudging around stores each week.
~ Women take an average 7,305 steps each time they head out on a spree, almost three quarters the 10,000 daily number recommended by the NHS
BREAKDOWN OF RESULTS:
| Shopping trips per year x hours walked each time | Total hours spent shopping each year | |
|---|---|---|
| Clothes shopping | 24 x 1 hour, 59 minutes | 47 hours, 31 minutes |
| Food shopping | 60 x 1 hour, 22 minutes | 82 hours, 12 minutes |
| Local shopping | 48 x 38 minutes | 30 hours, 14 minutes |
| TOTAL | 159 hours, 57 minutes |
So using a rate of five calories per minute, the average woman will burn 47,985 calories each month.
(Calorie burn rate is based on an average body weight of 175 pounds, walking at an average speed of 3mph)
