As we are approaching warmer weather, the grass is greener, and trees are budding, I am finding myself drawn to anything with color. I am obsessed with floral prints with bold colors and exciting shapes and styles. Lately I have been obsessed with skirts. I must admit, skirts are the first thing I reach for. This season is different. I am loving skirts of all shapes with color and print. I love creating a dressy style with heels and taking the same skirt and making it casual with a t-shirt and sandals. Right now I am obsessed with the B.B. Dakota skirts in the floral print. With so many strong colors in the skirt you can pair them with any top. The full bottom and higher waistline is a flattering fit, and the price makes the skirt even more appealing. I am also obsessing over the bright blue skirts that we recently got in stock. I can see myself wearing a basic white top with fun heels or sandals and let the skirt be the stand out piece. The only hard part is figuring out which skirt to get! Do Good While Shopping!
There are so many ways to give back while shopping so you can feel good on the inside and out. The owners of jb and me (mother and daughter team) look for products that give back to charity organizations and keep you looking stylish. We even have a whole section on the website dedicated to making you feel good while shopping, whether it is giving back with a purchase, shopping eco-friendly merchandise or buying something with a positive, inspirational message. Supporting a good cause is one thing that jb and me strives to do on a regular basis. Some of our recent projects include local charities such as the Boys and Girls Club and supporting the Center for Women in Transition. Nationally we support the relief efforts for Haiti, raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and we are drop off location for Soles4Souls. The store also supports local school organizations by donating to events. Working with local and national charities is close to our heart and a huge part of who we are at jb and me and jbandme.com. One of our favorite things to wear at jb and me is dresses. We love dresses for their fun style, comfort, and easy details. Most dresses truly are effortless fashion. You do not have to worry about the right jeans with the right top, a dress is one piece that you can play with by adding accessories. A dress is my staple piece in the summer. I could live in a cotton dress and sandals. There are a ton of fun dresses for spring and summer that mix prints and stripes and shapes to create different looks that are flattering and comfortable. Here is a simple guide to choosing the best dress for your body shape.

Hourglass Shape- Choose a dress that is A-line for the most flattering fit.
Pear Shape – Choose a dress that is more of an empire cut.
Boy Shape- Find a dress that is more form fitting with simple ruching to create the illusion of curves.
Broad Shoulders – Halter top dresses or strapless dresses are the best look for wider shoulders.
The best way to shop for dresses is to find the perfect one for your body shape. Choose a simple color that you can play with by adding accessories and cardigans. You can change the entire look of a dress by adding a belt around the waist or a colorful cardigan over top. Dresses can also go from day to night easily just by changing your shoes. Yesterday, the jb and me girls spent the day at Chicago for the StyleMax show. We found a ton of new product for fall. I know talking about fall is not what we want to do right now because we are anticipating spring, but there were a lot of cute items! We did find some amazing new items for spring and summer too. One of the brands that we are excited to share with you is Melie Bianco Handbags. This brand specializes in affordable luxury and vegan style handbags. The company is a husband and wife team that started Melie Bianco in 2003 with the goal of bringing runway- inspired handbags to the everyday women. This brand grew in popularity through word of mouth and being featured in small specialty boutiques. Now the brand is being recognized nationally and has been featured in several fashion magazines such as People Style Watch, Marie Claire, Glamour, and Lucky just to name a few.

Today is a fun, cheerful day with green thoughts in the air and people pinching each other. But Why? I never really understood why we must wear green on March 17 to celebrate Saint Patrick’s day otherwise you would get pinched. When I was younger, I thought it was because it was the leprechaun’s favorite color and had something to do with four-leaf clovers. I didn’t really care the reason, it was fun to participate in a holiday that for one day, everyone did something together. For me, Saint Patrick’s Day is just a fun, sort of magical celebration. I did want to know more about it, so I read the history about why we wear green on this day. I understand and appreciate the history of this holiday, but the answer I read on twitter this morning made me laugh so I am going to share that one. According to my Twitter friend, we wear green on Saint Patty’s Day so we can be invisible from the leprechauns and they will not be able to pinch us, because otherwise they pinch all the time so the green hides us. This season, instantly complete any look with a great pair of shoes. I personally am obsessed with shoes of all kinds. I love how a great pair of heels can make a statement and give you so much confidence. This season we are moving toward heels being the main staple piece for an outfit. Usually when the weather warms up, I have a tendency to reach for sandals and flats, but this season with all the fun, embellished heels and wedges, I am craving that look instead. I love the look of a pair of boyfriend jeans or cuffed jeans with heels. It is a polished, effortless style that looks great on anyone. One of the best things about this seasons shoe trends is all the colors that are available. This way the shoes can really take over the outfit. Fashion for this spring is all about mixing up your style. Adding florals to stripes and sequins tanks with cargo style pants. I love the creative way fashion is heading and it shows in shoes this season as well. Just because I gushed over heels for this season, does not mean that flats and sandals are on the back burner.
